Horizon Horseback Competition Terms and Conditions
1. This Promotion is open for people aged 18 or over, excluding employees of the Promoter, its agents and anyone professionally associated with this Promotion.
2. No purchase is necessary; internet access and a valid Instagram account are required.
3. Promotion Period: Enter between November 25 at 12.00 CET 2024 and December 2 at 23.59 CET 2024.
4. To Enter: Log onto your Instagram account (or create one for free), follow @mayadelorez and @horizonhorseback. Like the competition post and tag a friend in the comment section.
5. A maximum of 1 entry is permitted per person during the Promotion Period.
6. Prize:
i. There will be 1 winner who can bring a friend. The winner will win:
A Seven night African Explorer Safari* with Horizon Horseback for the winner and one guest. This safari is 4 nights in South Africa and 3 nights in Botswana.
One €1000 Maya Delorez voucher for the winner and the guest to share (€500 per person), which can be used to purchase outfits for the trip.
* Horse riding ability is assessed in South Africa, and riders will also undergo a short riding test in Botswana to ensure that the winner and their guest are competent for this leg of the safari. Participants must meet the following guidelines:
Must be able to control a horse at all paces independently.
Jumping – the ability to jump natural obstacles is a benefit, but not essential as these can be ridden around.
Must be able to take a light seat at canter.

7. Further Prize Details and Conditions:
i. The Prize must be booked within 18 months of Prize Acceptance.

iii. Three meals are served a day with afternoon tea before the ride. All drinks are complimentary.
iv. Accommodation is provided at Camp Davidson and One of the Bellevue plains lodges in South Africa and Two Mashatus and Tree Camp in Botswana, in South Africa all tents and rooms come with shower en suite facilities. In Botswana the Two Mashatus tents all come with en suite shower facilities, Tree Camp has shared ablution facilities.
v. The Prize will be coordinated via email between the Promoter's prize fulfilment agency and the winner. The agency will make every reasonable effort to share the prize details with the winner as soon as possible. The Promoter retains ultimate discretion over all aspects of the prize arrangement. Once the prize details, including dates and locations, are finalized, they cannot be changed or modified by the winner.
vi. The winner and their guest will be solely responsible for arranging and covering the cost of any necessary insurance, including but not limited to health insurance, travel insurance, and coverage for theft, loss, or property damage, as required or deemed advisable.
vii. Once tickets are booked, they will only be valid for the specified dates and times, with no alternatives offered.
viii. If a booking is cancelled by the winner, no alternative tickets will be issued and for the avoidance of doubt, no compensation and/or refund will be provided.
ix. The winner will not be eligible for any compensation and will have no grounds for a claim against the organizers if the holiday or any other event included in the prize is delayed, postponed, rescheduled, or canceled.
x. To clarify, the Prize does not cover transportation, meals, drinks, souvenirs, gratuities, parking fees, or any other personal expenses (including spending money) not explicitly mentioned in these Terms and Conditions. Neither the Promoter nor any provider involved in the Prize will be liable for these costs.
xi. The winner and their guest must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of travel. Obtaining any required visas or travel insurance will be the sole responsibility of the winner and their guest. If either is unable to travel due to visa issues or other personal circumstances, no alternative tickets will be provided, and no compensation or substitute prize will be offered.
xii. The winner and their guest are required to travel together at all times, on the same dates and schedule, take the same trip, and share the same room in all accommodations provided. If the winner fails to attend the scheduled booking, they will forfeit the Prize in its entirety, and neither the Promoter nor any prize providers will have any further obligations to the winner.
xiii. The winner is responsible for the behavior of themselves and their guests while participating in the Prize. The Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to exclude the winner and/or their guests from any part of the Prize if they fail to follow the instructions of the Promoter or any associated companies, or if their actions are deemed dangerous, anti-social, disruptive, or harmful to others. Failure to adhere to these Terms and Conditions may result in the Prize being revoked.
xiv. All elements of the prize package must be taken as part of the same trip.
xv. The Prize will be forfeited if:
The winner has not obtained all required travel documents by the date specified by the Promoter;
The winner faces any immigration issues that prevent them from entering, leaving, or traveling within the pre-booked period; or
The winner has any medical, legal, or other circumstances that prevent them from accepting or participating in the Prize.
xvi. Return transfers from the winner’s home to the international airport are not included.
xvii. It is the responsibility of the winner and their guest to review any travel advisories issued by the government to assess whether they wish to accept the risks associated with traveling to the destination. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred by the winner or their guest due to failure to follow government travel advisories. The winner and their guest are also responsible for obtaining all necessary information regarding recommended vaccinations and health regulations required by the destination country, as well as ensuring they receive the required inoculations.
xviii. Prize and Voucher must be used within 18 months of being issued.
xviiii. The winner is solely responsible for any applicable taxes or duties that may be associated with the prize. Compliance with local tax laws is the winner's responsibility.
8. Winner Selection: One provisional winner will be randomly selected from all valid entries received during the Promotion Period, and the winner can then bring a guest.
9. Winner Notification: The winner will be reached through their Instagram DM shortly after the competition ends and will need to provide an email address and proof of identity and eligibility. We will make reasonable attempts to contact the selected winner. Once eligibility is verified, the provisional winner will be officially confirmed. If the provisional winner does not reply to the initial contact within 14 days, we reserve the right to disqualify them and select a reserve winner in the same manner. The reserve winner may have a shorter time to respond.
10. Prize Acceptance: Notification to arrange fulfillment of a Prize will take place within 28 days of acceptance of the Prize. In the unlikely event that a winner has not received communication to arrange their Prize, the winner must inform the Promoter by emailing laura@ridinginafrica.com. If a winner does not do so, the Promoter reserves the right to not reissue the Prize or limit its value at its sole discretion.
11. Moderation: The Promoter reserves the right to reject entries which, in the reasonable opinion of the Promoter:
a. are in breach of the Terms & Conditions.
b. include any content that is offensive, harmful, objectionable, or otherwise inappropriate for publication, including but not limited to content related to race, religion, origin, or gender, or anything that could damage the reputation, name, or goodwill of the Promoter or any associated brand partner.
12. By participating in the competition and accepting the prize, the winner and their guest agree to allow Horizon Horseback and Maya Delorez to create content featuring them (including, but not limited to, photographs and videos) during their stay. This content may be used for promotional purposes on platforms such as social media, websites, or other marketing materials.
The winner and their guest may request to review the content before publication. If they wish to do so, they must notify Horizon Horseback or Maya Delorez of this preference during their stay.
13. The Promoter aims to conduct a fair and secure promotion and to prevent any abuse or cheating. If your entry does not comply with these Terms & Conditions, your entry (and any associated aliases) will be disqualified. Any Prize granted may be deemed void and reclaimed, and the Promoter reserves the right to prohibit you from participating in future promotions for at least six months. For this reason, the Promoter retains the right to:
a. Confirm the eligibility of entrants and/or provisional winners through various methods by requesting any information deemed reasonably necessary for this purpose. Entry or a Prize may be withheld until verification is successfully completed.
b. Disqualify entries that are not made directly by the individual entering the Promotion.
c. Disqualify entries made using anonymous email services.
d. Disqualify bulk entries from individuals, trade, consumer groups or third parties, incomplete entries and entries submitted by macros or other automated means.
e. Disqualify entries beyond the maximum allowed, or those using techniques such as ‘script’, ‘brute force’, multiple SIM cards for text entries, masking identity by manipulating IP addresses, using aliases or identities other than their own or any other means.
f. Disqualify entrants who tamper with the entry process.
g. Disqualify entries which, in some other way, do not meet the requirements of these Terms & Conditions.
h. Cancel, modify, or suspend the Promotion if it cannot be conducted as planned due to factors such as tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other circumstances beyond the Promoter's control that could disrupt the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper execution of the Promotion.
14. The Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash or any other form of compensation. If, for any reason, a Prize or any part of a Prize is unavailable, the Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to replace it with a Prize or element of equal or greater value.
15. No responsibility can be taken for entries which are lost, delayed, corrupted, damaged, misdirected or incomplete or which cannot be delivered for any technical, delivery or other reason. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
16. This Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Facebook. By entering you are providing your information to the Promoter and not to Instagram or Facebook, and Instagram or Facebook are not responsible for any element of this Promotion.
17. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies are not responsible for any loss (including, but not limited to, indirect, special, or consequential loss, or loss of profits), expense, or damage incurred (whether or not caused by someone's negligence) in connection with this Promotion or the acceptance or use of the Prize, except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law. The Promoter’s liability for death or personal injury resulting from its negligence will not be excluded.
18. The Promoter will not be responsible for any delay or failure to fulfill its obligations due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to global or regional epidemics or pandemics, severe weather conditions, fire, industrial disputes, war, terrorist activities, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil disturbances, plagues, natural disasters, or any other similar events.

20. If any portion of these Terms & Conditions is deemed invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by law, the rest will remain unaffected and will continue to be fully effective.
21. By entering, you will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
22. If there is a discrepancy between these Terms & Conditions and those in any promotional material, these Terms & Conditions will prevail.
