Since Maya Delorez’ first products launched back in 2018, the company’s trademark has become stylish products that bring together functionality and comfort. For founder Madelene Törnblom, the vision has always remained the same: to challenge the traditional approach to riding clothes and offer the best products on the market.

One of the biggest drops this year? The Winter Jackets. We talked with Madelene to hear about her thoughts on the jackets and what the design process has been like.

Madelene, can you tell us a little about the winter jackets?

– Our ambition is to have a full range of products for riders, and we are building it step by step. Now, the time has come for a big winter jacket drop. Because if there’s one thing you need at the stables during the colder months, it’s a warm jacket.

What made you decide to design new winter jackets?

– We wanted to offer something that really makes a difference, and a really warm and comfy winter jacket is a rider’s best friend! It’s an essential piece for outdoor rides and days spent at the stable.

“It was important to create a jacket that doesn’t just keep you warm, but that’s also easy to work and ride in.”

– Madelene Törnblom, Designer

What was important to you during the design process?

– I pay really close attention to details to make sure our products deliver the highest comfort. To me, it was important to create a jacket that doesn’t just keep you warm, but that’s also easy to work and ride in. It should also be easy to wear over a thick shirt since you often wear layers in the winter. In true MD fashion, I wanted to ensure that it had a nice fit without compromising on comfort.

Did you encounter any challenges?

– The fit is always a challenge, especially when you want to create a nice silhouette. I love the slightly boxy feel, but at the same time, you need to be able to fit several layers underneath. Finding the balance wasn’t easy, but I am really happy with the results. These jackets are exactly what I have been wanting and looking for.

What’s your favorite feature of the new jackets?

The fit is probably my favorite! But I also have to mention the two-way zipper that we’ve designed; it makes it possible to open the jacket at the bottom so that you can easily ride in it despite its length.

“A vest is the ultimate choice in the fall when the days start to get colder – that’s peak vest season!”

– Madelene Törnblom, Designer

There’s also a vest in this drop; what makes a vest good for the colder season?

A vest is the ultimate choice in the fall when the days start to get colder – that’s peak vest season! A cozy teddy shirt combined with a vest and you’re good to go. In winter, when you’re riding or working out, a thicker vest is perfect. After the warm-up, you can take off your jacket and throw on a vest. It keeps you warm but allows more freedom of movement. During intense training sessions, I feel more flexible in the saddle when I wear a vest instead of a jacket.

What are the sizes like? What about if you want to layer up underneath the jacket?

– The jackets and the vest are true to size. They have a relaxed fit which means you have room for extra layers. If you feel unsure, you can also check out the size guide tab on each product’s page.

Which winter jacket will you be wearing this winter?

I’ll be LIVING in Bernie! It’ll come with me to work, to the stables, to workouts, and to riding sessions. It’s also an obvious choice for those crisp fall walks.
