It’s time for another round of ‘What’s In My Grooming Bag?’, this time with Irish show jumper Michael Duffy, Swedish show jumper Johanna Lassnack, and German dressage rider Frederic Wandres. Keep reading to find out what they keep in their Kevin Grooming Bags!

What’s in Michael Duffy’s grooming bag?

– I’ve always got latex in my ring bag, in case I need to soften up the bit or something like that, and spare tape in case we have any malfunctions. I had a martingale break once and I had to go in the ring with only one side attached. After that, we always got a spare martingale and spare tape to patch up at a minute’s notice.

Which patches do you style your Kevin with?

– I leave that mostly up to Tristan, my main groom, and Romane – they work very closely together so I do the four legs and leave the aesthetic side of things completely up to them. But I’m amazed at Kevin and how organized it is. When you have a martingale, spurs, and a spare pair of boots and then all of a sudden, you’re rooting through, trying to find everything, it all becomes very hectic. I found this grooming bag very, very organized – which would be unlike me.

What do you think of the Kevin Grooming Bag?

– It’s very good, I was amazed at how many pockets it has to be honest. I was trying to find things to put into them! And it’s good, I remember I had a couple of other ones that got worn over time and they got very heavy. This one seems very tough and is much easier to organize.

What’s in Johanna Lassnack’s grooming bag?

– This is what I always keep in my grooming bag:

  • Rubber bands

  • A towel

  • Wet wipes

  • Extra stirrup leather

  • Extra spur straps

  • Horse treats

  • Shoeshine

  • A brush

  • A hoof pick

  • Extra gloves

  • Shoe glue

Is there anything you only keep in your grooming bag occasionally?

– I bring protective, waterproof wear if I know it’s going to rain.

Is there anything ”unexpected” in your bag, something you don’t usually expect to find there?

– Maybe an extra pair of contact lenses. I have lost one of my contacts in the warm-up ring more than once!

Which patches do you have?

– Eat Sleep Ride Repeat, the MD Emblem and Home is Where My Horse is.

What do you think of your Kevin Grooming Bag?

– Kevin is the ultimate grooming bag since it fits everything you want to bring to a show. It’s so nice to carry. I love the small compartment at the top of the bag, it’s perfect for horse treats and rubber bands! Those are things you often want to get hold of quickly.

What’s in Frederic Wandres’ grooming bag?

– There are the basics: Brushes, a towel, some rubber bands – everything that can be needed at the last minute. If it’s raining, I need a second pair of gloves so that I can change gloves just before entering the arena. Also, I really want the tail of the horse looking good when I compete. Therefore, I always keep a tail brush in the grooming bag. I also keep some baby oil and face towels in there, and a polish brush for my riding boots. And of course, some treats for the horses to say “good job, thank you”.

Which patches do you have?

– My name spelled out with the character patches and the Gone Riding patch.
